The historic districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo, home to Assam's rich cultural heritage and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Charaideo Maidams, witnessed something in 2026 that no one could have imagined. A sudden and unprecedented flood swept across the region, leaving thousands of families devastated. For communities that had never experienced such a disaster, there was hardly any time to comprehend what was happening before homes, livelihoods and memories were washed away.

While the emergency response from the government, civil society and countless individuals has been extraordinary, rebuilding these communities will require a long-term commitment. Reviving Sivasagar and Charaideo is not only about restoring lives - it is about safeguarding Assam's history, culture and heritage.

Flood to Future is an initiative commitment to stand with one flood-affected village until it stands on its own. Rather than providing temporary assistance, we aim to work alongside the community to create a self-sustaining future through responsible tourism.

Together with local residents, we will strengthen livelihoods, revive traditional crafts and agriculture, conserve cultural and natural heritage, improve community infrastructure, build local skills and develop the village as a meaningful tourism destination. The goal is not to create dependence, but to create opportunities that allow the village to thrive with dignity, confidence and local ownership.
