HOSTS

Abhijit Gogoi

Sustainable Tourism Practitioner | Homestay Host | Community Tourism Guide | Travel Curator

Abhijit Gogoi is a sustainable tourism practitioner from Assam with over 22 years of experience in journalism and more than 15 years dedicated to destination development and community-based tourism.

A postgraduate in Mass Communication from Delhi, he stepped away from full-time journalism in 2022 after serving in a senior editorial role at a reputed news channel, choosing to focus entirely on building sustainable, community-led tourism models.

Alongside his media career, Abhijit consistently worked to promote emerging tourism destinations across Assam with a strong emphasis on local ownership and long-term ecological balance. He is the founder of multiple adventure-based motorsport, ultra-running and endurance events, and a pioneer in promoting tourism in Kaziranga beyond the boundaries of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve — encouraging diversified visitor experiences, reducing pressure on core protected areas, and developing year-round, community-driven tourism frameworks.

Abhijit actively collaborates with government agencies, academic institutions and tourism bodies to help shape structured homestay systems and sustainable tourism policies in Assam. His approach is firmly practice-driven, sharing and advocating only what has been implemented, tested and sustained on the ground.

Samadrita Rudraj Bora

Nutrition Professional | Food Educator | Programme Co-Host

Samadrita Rudraj Bora is a professional dietitian and nutrition counsellor. Her professional focus lies in child and women’s nutrition, integrating scientific knowledge with practical, family-based food systems.

Early in her career, she explored video editing in Delhi, inspired by her father, noted filmmaker Hem Chandra Bora. She later worked in electronic media in Guwahati, where she met Abhijit while serving in the same news organisation.

Over time, Samadrita returned fully to her foundational discipline — food and nutrition, bringing together clinical expertise, communication skills and lived experience. She works actively on building mindful eating habits, sustainable kitchen systems and nutrition awareness rooted in local produce and traditional food wisdom.

A Shared Journey

Married for 18 years, Samadrita and Abhijit made a deliberate choice to step away from urban comfort and relocate to a village in Kaziranga with their son and mother, embracing a more grounded and sustainable way of living.

In 2022, they left the security of salaried careers and invested their entire savings to establish Aaghun Homestay — building it on principles of responsible tourism, community participation and integrity in practice.

Their son, who once studied in a premium school in Guwahati, now attends a village school — a reflection of their belief that values, exposure and lived experience matter more than labels.

From welcoming guests from around the world to nurturing community-rooted initiatives, their professional work mirrors their personal philosophy.

The Kaziranga Basecamp is born from that commitment, a space where land, food, ecology and responsibility are not theoretical ideas, but everyday practice.

Together, they do not simply host programmes - they share a way of life.

This Is Where Foundations Are Built.

We believe resilience is not taught in classrooms. It is built in uncertainty.

We believe awareness does not come from information. It comes from immersion.

We believe leadership is not a badge. It is responsibility practiced daily.

At Kaziranga Basecamp, young individuals rise with the sun, work with their hands, observe without distraction, and learn to listen - to nature, to others and to themselves.

They experience real darkness.
They sit with silence.
They solve real problems.
They contribute to something larger than themselves.

This is not about surviving seven days in the wild.
It is about discovering strength that already exists within.

We are not building campers.
We are shaping grounded, capable and responsible individuals.

The world does not need more spectators.
It needs steady hands, clear minds and courageous hearts.

Kaziranga Basecamp is where that journey begins.
